Ministry sets up National Disaster Trust Fund for flood victims – Bernama


The National Disaster Trust Fund Account was established today for those wishing to contribute towards undertaking infrastructure repair works as well as aid for flood victims. – The Malaysian Insider file pic, January 19, 2015.The Finance Ministry today established the National Disaster Trust Fund Account to facilitate various parties wishing to contribute towards undertaking infrastructure repair works as well as aid for flood victims.Treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah said the initiative was taken after the ministry received enquiries from various parties hoping to make financial contributions to flood victims."The trust account will provide a platform for government-owned companies, federal statutory bodies and subsidiaries, financial institutions, corporations as well as individuals to channel their contributions," he said in a statement today.Cheques should be made payable to "Akaun Amanah Tabung Bencana Negara".He said funds would be used to cover the cost of repairs of public infrastructure, houses damaged by the floods that affected the country as well as welfare aid for the victims."Besides repair works and welfare for the victims of the recent floods, funds from the trust account will also be used for future floods."  For queries, contact Accountant-General Department Malaysia at 03-8882 1545 or email akauntan.negara@anm.gov.my. – Bernama, January 20, 2015.
